Thank you very much for this video. I'm planning on building a strip built kayak. I have been doing woodworking for years and this taught me some of the little things i had not learned it thought of. Mostly about the fiberglass process and the amount of disposables I'll go through. As for a name for your boat, I think either Sook or Sally. Sook is a mature female crab while Sally is an immature female crab. From the top of the bay, I wish you all the best!

I have been looking for a machine like this for a year! However, I have a 12V lithium / Victron system I have installed, with 640aH batteries. Do I need to step this up to 24V? So far, I have only seen a 24V Winia / Daewoo mini.

I had the same reaction when seeing this in the catalog but I think I'll need some time after my latest round of sanding to convince myself this is a good idea haha

I chose my location poorly. I was down by the South River, on land, and couldn't see much at all, let alone hear the roar of the jets. But I made up for it decades ago by serving on a carrier with F-14s and -18s for 4 years. Great video Sophie, nice to get a foreign viewpoint on an Annapolis tradition.

While some epoxies have no amine blush-which is fine, some of the best epoxies do. It's not the problem people imagine. Since you have to sand the epoxy anyways before paint or varnish, simply scuff it instead with a wet Scotchbrite pad, and this will remove all the amine as well as prep the surface in one easy step. If it needs to be flatter, you have to sand it more regardless of what type of epoxy. It's rarely an issue. As far as mixing ratios go, the pumps supplied by the maker enable easy use regardless of the ratio. I use a gram scale myself.

even if the swap didn’t produce drastic noise reduction, the old foam was starting to fail and was likely to start affecting the air filter as it disintegrated into dust… that is, it was a job needing to be done soon anyway.

I would go with “crab cake” having had many crab cakes at the long gone Annapolis market, it is a great name and symbolic of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay.
